Case Logic by Angela Yosten
Sew a tablet cover to protect electronics from the elements.
Download the 'Keep Out' template here.
Supplies
5 jelly roll strips measuring 2 1/2"x the fabric width (exterior)
1/2 yard each of contrasting fabric (interior), fusible web & lightweight batting
14" white coil zipper
Coordinating all-purpose thread
Point turning tool
Zipper foot
Prep It
The finished case measures 9 1/2"x12".
With right sides together, align two jelly roll strips. Stitch one long edge using a 1/4" seam allowance. Repeat to stitch the remaining jelly roll strips along the long edges to create the exterior fabric.
Press the seams downward, and then topstitch 1/4" from each seam.
Download the 'Keep Out' template; print.
Cut It
From the exterior fabric and batting, cut two 10"x13" rectangles each.
From the interior fabric, cut three 10"x13" rectangles.
From the fusible web, cut one 10"x13" rectangle.
Sew It
Place the fusible web over the TK template; trace the letters on the paper side. (The appliqué templates are reversed.)
Center the traced fusible web over one exterior fabric rectangle wrong side; fuse, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut within each traced letter, and then remove the paper backing. Cut out and reserve the inside of the o and p.
With right sides facing up, place the cut out exterior fabric over one interior fabric rectangle; fuse. Place the o and p inner circles in their positions; fuse. Select a small buttonhole stitch on the machine, and then stitch each letter and inner-circle perimeter.
Align one batting piece with each exterior piece wrong side, and then stitch each perimeter using an 1/8" seam allowance.
Cut off the stops at each zipper end so the zipper measures 13". Be careful not to slide off the zipper pull.
Place one exterior rectangle right side up. Position one zipper-tape edge right side down along the fabric upper edge. Place one interior rectangle right side down, sandwiching the zipper and aligning the upper edges.
Using a zipper foot, stitch close to the zipper teeth through all layers along the upper edge only. Stitch until the zipper foot touches the zipper pull, backstitch, and then cut the thread. Move the zipper pull past the foot where the seam was stitched, and then stitch the remainder of the seam, backstitching at the beginning and end.
Open the layers and press the seams toward the batting. Topstitch the seam allowance to the batting/exterior using an 1/8" seam allowance. Don't catch the interior fabric when topstitching.
Repeat to attach the remaining zipper tape to the remaining exterior fabric/batting rectangle, using the remaining interior fabric rectangle.
Open each layer so that the interior and exterior rectangles are aligned with right sides together and with the zipper in the center.
Stitch the perimeter using a 3/8" seam allowance, leaving a 5" centered opening along the lower interior seam for turning. When stitching over the zipper ends, use a 1/2" seam allowance (1).

Clip the corners and turn the case right side out. Turn the opening edges 1/2" toward the wrong side and topstitch closed using an 1/8" seam allowance. Push the interior inside the exterior; press.
