Stephen “Suede” Baum is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry. He attended Kent State University's prestigious Fashion Design and Merchandising School where he perfected his flare for creating, marketing and designing. Upon graduation, Suede completed an internship with Geoffrey Beene and Alber Elbaz.
Suede has worked for the Cleveland Center of Contemporary Arts, All-Bilt New York, Sun Apparel, Jordache Enterprises and VF Corporation, designed for high-quality brands, such as Todd Oldham, Polo Jeans, Geoffrey Beene Sportswear, Old Navy and Generra, and has dressed major celebrities, such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.
In 2001, Suede was honored as the youngest alumni of Kent State University to be the Commencement Keynote speaker and serves as an advisor to the Kent State University’s Fashion Advisory Board. In April 2009, he was inducted into Kent State University’s Fashion Hall of Fame.
In 2008, Suede appeared as a contestant on season five of Project Runway. He was known for his talent, style and strong character and generated conversation about his tendency to speak in the third person, as well as his signature colored faux-hawk.
