Alison Dahl Kelly worked as editor and creative director for BurdaStyle.com from 2007-2012. She was ecstatic for the opportunity to write, design the sewing patterns and oversee the creative direction of The BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook. As a true DIYer Alison hopes this book can serve as the new sewing bible for aspiring designers, sewing enthusiasts and experts alike.
Currently Alison designs made-to-order party dresses and wedding gowns for her clothing line Dahl. It was while planning her own wedding in 2011 that Alison realized the importance of such an affair, while creating distinctive dresses for herself & her maids. Her design philosophy is based upon the fact that many women today are looking for something fresh and new, and they should look and feel top notch when they tie the knot, as should their maids (while having the option to don their obligatory frocks in the future). Dahl silhouettes pull from the past & present while mixing together hand-dyed silks, lovely vintage laces and frothy tulle. She offers a thoughtfully curated selection of silk hues, from blush pink to tomato red to tangerine, while fulfilling custom color requests. Bespoke and custom designs are offered to clients as well.
Alison was also a contestant on Bravo TV's competitive reality series, Project Runway season 3.
